I'm suspicious of the rave reviews for this book! It is written in a very amateur way, as if written by a child for a school project. The chapter headings are bizarre and remind me of 18th century romance novels in their length and detail. It is also difficult to trust the authenticity of a biography when the most basic details are wrong. This book expresses urban myth as fact: Houdini's death was not purely as the result of a punch and any serious researcher would know that.

I thought this was an amazing read, very well written and easy to read. Some really good insights into how houdini performed some of the most amazing tricks/illusions.

Like this as a good read but not a book of tricks and how to do them for the amateur. For the keen magician who is into the history of magic - worth reading.

Never though I would replace my lost copy. Thanks!
